DeWALT D28715: This is a review of the DeWALT D28715 14-inch Quick Change Chop Saw which is available for you to buy at discounted prices direct from Amazon.com.
The DeWALT D28715 is an outstanding heavy duty chop saw and has a powerful 15.0 Amp/5.5 HP motor. It also has a quick-change keyless blade change system that enables you to change wheels without a wrench, a quick-lock vise designed to help improve your productivity by allowing you to fast clamp stock on different sized materials and is ready to use straight out of the box.
However, please be aware that it is a chop saw and is only going to cut in one direction, up and down, a chopping motion. A chop saw doesn’t have the ability to spin the blade through the degrees to make bevel and miter cuts like a miter saw does.
If you would like to make bevel and miter cuts, then you’ll need a miter saw, maybe something like the DeWALT DW713 or perhaps the Bosch GCM12SD.

DeWALT D28715 14-inch Quick Change Chop Saw Review
For the price, the DeWalt D28715 is a great tool and value for money. It has plenty of power to help you complete the jobs that you need to get done. It’s portable and cuts through metal smoothly.
Many reviewers were very pleased that the chop saw arrived completely assembled so that they could use it straight away.
A few customers mentioned that whilst they didn’t use it for precision cuts, they had no doubt that it could.
There were also some reviewers who said that 45 degree cuts are a little tricky due to blade deflection.
The DeWalt D28715 was given 1 and 2-star ratings from unsatisfied customers who bought this chop saw so that they could get square cuts. However, one of the customers said that he couldn’t get his chop saw to make one and another reviewer said that this tool is off anywhere from 1/8 to ¼ depending on the thickness of the metal being cut. This reviewer continued to say:
The table is not flat all the way across and has about a 1/8 drop to the right of the vise. When you try to cut with it the blade pushes the metal down no matter how tight you torque the vise which has clunky issues and likes to stick. The only way to get square cuts is to use a second clamp on the left side of the table or stick a shim under the metal being cut on the right of the vise.
However, there are several 4 and 5 star ratings from satisfied customers who were extremely happy with the heavy duty quality of this item. They all say that the D28715 works perfectly well, it’s powerful enough to cut thicker steel without blade speed being pulled down and has an attractive design.
Summary of the DeWALT D28715:
In summary, the DeWALT D28715 is a good purchase and comes recommended by a high percentage of satisfied customers. At the risk of repeating myself, the 4 and 5 star reviews far outweigh the 1, 2 and 3 star comments.
However, saying that, you have to pay a little attention to the fact that there is some degree of deflection and that could cause problems somewhere down the line for you. But then, there are other points to take into consideration like maybe you’ve got some experience with this particular type of chop saw and so you know how to minimise deflection, or maybe you won’t be cutting certain materials that may cause delection.
I hope this review doesn’t take anything away from the DeWALT D28715 because it clearly is a good chop saw, and to be honest, there are very few chop saws that won’t have some degree of deflection.
